Server Requirements

If you already have WordPress installed, it means that you meet the minimum server requirements and you can perfectly install this theme without any issues. To get the most out of your website though, you should get in touch with your web host and ask them if they meet the following criteria:

  • PHP version 7.4 or greater.
  • MySQL version 5.6 or greater OR MariaDB version 10.1 or greater.
  • HTTPS support.

Prerequisites

Ignition Framework

This theme requires our free Ignition framework plugin to be installed. Simply visit the Downloads area, download the Ignition Framework plugin, upload it through your Dashboard > Plugins > Add new and Activate it.

It really doesn’t matter if you install the theme or the plugin first. Just make sure to install both in order for things to function as intended.

Read this for more information about the plugin installation procedure.

Theme installation

Installing the theme is a very simple process. Go to your dashboard under Appearance > Themes > Add new, click Upload Theme and upload the zip file. Once uploaded click Install Now and then the Activate Theme link. Here is a detailed overview on how to download and install the theme.

Once the theme is installed and activated you will be forwarded to the theme’s onboarding page.

Here you will be prompted to install and activate the Ignition Framework plugin if you haven’t done so already. Here you can also install our free custom blocks plugin, GutenBee. Through the onboarding page you have access to many useful links, such as the theme’s documentation, our knowledge base articles and direct links to our support hub.

In the Sample Content tab of the onboarding page you can install and activate all the plugins required to import the sample content and proceed with its installation. More info on that on the next section.

NOTE: The only plugin required for the theme to work properly is the Ignition Framework plugin, all other plugins are entirely optional if you don’t need their functionality or are not planning on importing the sample content. You can safely skip installing and activating them if you are sure you don’t need them.

How to import the sample content

If you like what you see in our demo website you can simply import the sample content. This means that a close approximation of our demo website will be imported in your WordPress installation. Now all you have to do is simply replace the content of these pages with your content. Importing the sample content can help serve as a basis on which you can continue to build and expand your site, however keep in mind that this procedure is entirely optional.

A generic video guide on how to import the sample content can be found here.

The procedure:

  • In your WordPress dashboard visit Appearance > Theme Options > Sample Content.
  • Click Install and then Activate for each of the required plugins.
  • Click the Get Started button and in the next screen, move over the screenshot of the builder/variation of your preference and click the Import Demo button.
NOTE: Due to the nature of the import mechanism some links may link back to our demo website. If you are not sure how to update / change these links simply get in touch and we’ll help you out.

Image sizes

Web page loading times are greatly affected by the size of your images. For best results make sure to use images with the recommended dimensions as described below:

  • Main post thumbnail: 870x580px
  • Item: 615x410px
  • Item large: 1170x780px
  • Article Media 510x510px
  • Mini-cart items 160x160px
NOTE: If for any reason you want to change the dimensions of any of the predefined image sizes you have to use a plugin. This guide describes the process of modifying image sizes.
NOTE: All image sizes are the minimum recommended, adding larger image sizes will result in cropping them to fit these sizes

Setting up site-wide sections

It’s considered a good practice to set up the areas of your website that you won’t be editing a lot in the future, like the general site layout, the header, footer and some secondary functionality.

General Site Options

You can change your general site options under Appearance > Customize > Site Options. Under the Layout section you can control your site’s, blog’s and single blog post’s layout, as well as the site width and content/sidebar column ratio. The layout can then be overridden in each post/page individually. Under the Colors tab you can select the basic color palette for your installation and add a background image. Finally under Typography you can select the ideal font pairing from a full list of Google Fonts and customize font properties for key elements on desktop and mobile devices alike. You also have the option to disable Google Fonts altogether.

The header on the theme consists of three key elements:

1. Top Bar
2. Logo
3. Main Menu

Top Bar

To edit the top bar go to Customize > Top Bar. Here you can toggle the top bar entirely and fill the 3 content areas with simple text, plain HTML, or shortcodes. We have used a custom menu, the weather and the language switcher on the theme’s demo.

[ignition-custom-menu name="socials"][ignition-current-weather id="4033936"][ignition-language-switcher]
Demo shortcodes

Refer to the shortcodes section below for information regarding the shortcodes.

Logo

On the theme’s demo we haven’t set a logo. To upload a logo navigate to Customize > Site Identity. The recommended maximum width of your logo is 200px (or 400px if you prefer a retina ready logo) while you can use any height you want. You can upload two logos. The normal and the alternative one. The alternative logo can be used if you want a different logo to appear when the header layout is set to Transparent under Customize > Header > Layout.

Learn more about the header and its options.

Main Menu

If you are not familiar with WordPress menus here is a detailed guide.

Navigate to Customize > Menus. Enter a menu name (It can be anything you like) and click on the Create Menu button. In the next page click the Add Items button and start adding items to the menu. Now all you have to do is assign this menu to a location through the Menu Locations section, check the Main menu location and you are done. Your navigation menu should be now visible on your website.

Create a menu button

You can create a special button-like menu item by setting a certain class for to it. The class name is nav-button and you can set it under Appearance > Menus for the item you want. First enable this section from Screen Options.

This is a predefined class you can use for your menu items

The page title section

This section allows you to create an area just below the menu which can display the page’s title & subtitle along with a background image or color.

The page title section can be modified under Customize > Page title. You can choose to disable the page title with background section entirely, change its height, alignment, content and toggle the site’s breadcrumbs. Under the Colors section you can set a background color, a background image, an overlay color and also set the primary and the secondary text colors.

In some cases, like in our demo website, you might want to have different background images on different posts, pages and custom post types.

To achieve that create or edit a page. On the right sidebar locate the Page title image field. Upload a new image and preview this page. As you can see we have successfully overridden the image set in the Customizer settings.

NOTE: The purpose of the Transparent header option is to have your main header components (Top bar, Logo & Main Menu) on top of a background image or background color which means that you have to set on in the Customize > Page title > Color section.

In our Knowledge Base you can find more info about the page title section, the breadcrumbs and the page template overrides.

The footer area is a widgetized area that can be populated with widgets through Customize > Widgets. You can also remove the credits at the very bottom of this area by visiting Customize > Footer > Credits content section. You can also adjust the colors by setting a background color & image and modify the border, title and text colors.

Utilities

Lightbox

The theme offers a lightbox for your images which is by default disabled to avoid conflicts with third party plugins which offer lightboxes. If you want to use it you can enable it under Customize > Utilities > Lightbox.

Weather

You can choose to show the weather for a chosen location using the weather shortcode anywhere inside your installation. First you will need to set it up by providing an API key and location under Customize > Utilities > Weather.

Block editor Dark Mode

Some themes have dark color schemes which are reflected in the block editor, this can make working with certain blocks a bit harder. Enabling the editor dark mode using the provided checkbox will apply certain styles to the editor in order to improve the content creation experience.

Social Sharing

Via the social sharing panel you can allow users to share your posts & products to Twitter, Facebook & Pinterest with a single click.

For more detailed information regarding the customization options available on Ignition Framework based themes you can check out this knowledge base article.

Contact

Create a new page with the Full width template set under Summary and a small excerpt. Set an image as the Page Title Image and in the Page Settings section remove the top/bottom content padding, set the header type to transparent and hide the breadcrumbs.

The page content starts with a fully aligned Container block with two columns and the theme grid enabled. The left column has a width of 66.66% and contains a Paragraph and a Contact Form 7 block. The right column contains a few sets of Heading/Paragraph blocks and a Core Social Icons block.

Below we have another Container block with a single column. Inside we have a Google Maps block with a height of 480px.

Business3ree’s Global Sections

The theme features two Global sections (on your site you can add as many as you wish) that appear before the footer. Create a new global section under Global Sections > Add New and proceed to the content.

Content wise both global sections consist of a fully aligned container block with the theme grid enabled, a background image and an overlay set. Inside we have two columns, the left one contains a Heading and a Paragraph and the right one a Button block.

The first global section appears on all pages except the portfolio and contact ones.

The other global section (which has an identical layout with a different overlay and button background color), appears only on the Portfolio listing page.

Create a multilingual site with WPML and an Ignition Framework based theme

Last Updated On

Creating a multilingual site with an Ignition Framework based theme is as simple as with any other theme. In this guide we take a look at how to create a bilingual site using the Aegean Resort theme. We are going to use the WPML plugin to achieve our goal.

WPML

WPML is one of the most popular premium WordPress plugins for creating multilingual sites. Once you download, install and activate the plugin click the Configure WPML button to continue.

Onboarding

This will trigger the onboarding procedure.

In the first step you will need to set the language for any existing content as well as the languages you want to translate your site to.

In the second step select the preferred format of the website’s URL for each language.

In the third step you have to apply your registered site’s key in order to register your plugin to receive automatic updates.

In the fourth step you can choose the way you would like your content to be translated (automatically or manually).

After clicking on Continue, before moving to step 5, you will be prompted to customize your previous choice.

Automatic Translation

For more about the automatic translation options, please refer to this WPML documentation guide.

Manual Translation

If you selected to translate your content manually, here you can choose if you would like to manage your translations by yourself (1), set existing users as Translators (2), add a Professional Translation Service (3) and finally, set a Translation Manager (4). You can select an existing user or create a new one and delegate the setup of translators to him/her. Choose this option when you are building a website for a client, who will set up translator users or choose a translation service.

The 5th step allows you to share site’s data (active theme and plugins information) with WPML.

In step 6, WPML will check for the active theme and any active plugins on your site and recommend useful WPML components and compatible plugins.

That’s it! Hit Finish to start translating!

Once you are done with the onboarding you will be automatically transferred to the Translation Management screen.

Translating items

Now we’re ready to start translating our content. Let’s start with a post. Go to your Posts in the dashboard.

Notice that next to the title column we have the language column. Each post was a plus mark next to its title, this means that no translation exists for the particular language and we can add one.

Now press the plus button to proceed to the WMPL Translation Dashboard.

Here you can see the two columns, one with the original text (1) content of the selected post and one with the translation of that text (2).

To translate a string, click ok it and then add the translation to the translation textbox (3) and press the green tick button (4).

At the bottom of the page, you can see the current percentage of the translation completion (5).

When you have finished translating, press Complete (6) to return back to the WordPress Dashboard.

You can also use the same procedure to translate pages.

If you would like to learn more about the Advanced Translation Editor, please visit the WPML Documentation page.

Manual Translation

If a plugin is not compatible with the Advanced Translation Editor or if you want to create different designs for the same post/page in different languages, you can use manual translation.

While editing a post/page, locate the Language metabox in the sidebar and choose the WordPress Editor (1).

In the popup dialog choose This Post (or This Page) and press Apply.

Next, tick the Duplicate (2) checkbox of the language you would like to translate this post/page to and press Duplicate (3).

Click on the pencil icon to open the duplicated post/page in the page editor.

Press the Translate independently button to prevent WPML from synchronizing this duplicated post/page with the original post/page.

You are all set! You can now start translating this post/page manually.

For more information about Manual Translation consider consulting the WPML Documentation page.

Translating categories

You can translate categories, either by going to Posts > Categories and open the desired category for editing.

Press add to enter your translation and then Update.

Alternatively, you can go to the WMPL > Taxonomy translation (1), choose the desired taxonomy from the dropdown list (2) and press the plus sign (3) next to the category you would like to translate.

In the popup screen, enter you translated text and press Save.

Enabling translation for custom post types

By default custom post types will not appear as translatable, however you can easily enable this feature.

Navigate to WPML > Settings and from the Post Types Translation section set the Accommodation (or any other custom post type you want to translate) to Translatable. Save and then do the same for the Taxonomies Translation. Your final settings should look like the ones below.

Creating a menu

Navigate to Appearance > Menus and edit the current menu of your site.

In the menu structure section you will notice that the menu has a language assigned to it (this was done when we set the default language for any existing content during the onboarding procedure). To the right we have two options.

Adding a new menu

If you click the plus button next to the language you’re creating a translation for WPML will allow you to create a new menu for that language.

Give the menu a name, make sure the Language and Translation of options are correct, select the proper display location from Menu Settings and proceed to add the menu items to the menu just as you would normally do, once done click the Create Menu button to save the menu and you are good to go.

Menu sync

Another option WPML offers is menu sync, this can be activated if you click on the Synchronize menus between languages link shown in the second to last picture.

This will present you with the above screen. Essentially each time you translate an item that’s on the menu set for the default language, WPML will automatically add it to a menu created for the new language. This means that your menus will be identical, if this works for you you can choose the sync option and be done with it. If you need slightly different menus for each language you’ll have to go with the first option.

Add a language switcher to the top bar

The Ignition Framework bundles a shortcode specifically built to create a language switcher. To add one to the site’s top bar navigate to Customize > Top Bar  and add it to any content area.

In the example above we have use the following shortcode:

[ignition-language-switcher display="flags"]

Of course you can use the language switcher shortcode in any of the theme’s content areas in the top bar, header, footer, widgets or even in the content.

Translating widgets

Translating widgets is very easy. Navigate to Appearance > Widgets and notice the language drop down that appears in each widget.

From the drop down, select which language this particular widget will appear in and save it.. Now create a new widget of the same type, add the same content but translated and select the proper language for it in the drop down. That’s it, now each widget will only appear on its set language.

Translate static strings

Take a look at this knowledgebase article for info on how to translate static strings.

Create a multilingual site with Polylang and an Ignition Framework based theme

Last Updated On

Creating a multilingual site with an Ignition Framework-based theme is as simple as with any other theme. In this guide we take a look at how to create a bilingual site using the Aegean Resort theme. We are going to use the Polylang plugin to achieve our goal.

Polylang

Polylang is the most popular free WordPress plugin which helps you create multilingual sites. There is a pro version available which offers some advanced features, but the free one should be enough for most users.

Start by installing and activating the plugin. Navigate to Plugins > Add New and search for Polylang. Click the Install button and then the Activate one.

Onboarding

Once the plugin is activated you will be presented with its onboarding page. We recommend to go through with it because it makes the initial setup very easy.

In the first page of the onboarding page you need to select the languages you want to translate your site in. To do that, select a language from the dropdown (1) and click the Add new language button (2) to add it. Repeat for as many languages as you want and once done click Continue (3) to go to the next page.

In the next page you can configure if the plugin will handle media translations. If you want to be able to translate captions, alternative text, descriptions and image titles, you should leave this on and continue.

In this step we will set the language for any existing content, so if you have any content, pick the language it’s written in from the drop down and continue.

This step will create a copy of your static home page for each available language. Of course you will need to translate its content later.

This final step of the onboarding process provides very useful links to the plugin’s documentation. It’s recommended that you take a look at them since they will be very helpful if you get stuck anywhere while translating your site.

Translating items

Now we’re ready to start translating our content. Let’s start with a post. Go to your Posts in the dashboard.

You will notice that a languages column has been added. The flag you see in each post is the configured language for that post. Under the other flags you will see a plus sign, which means that there is no translation for that language. Click the plus sign to start adding a translation for the selected language.

Adding the translation is just like creating a post. Add the title, content and any meta required and publish it.

Translating categories

Our post had the offers post category applied to it. When translating we added a new category to our post which will be the translation of the offers category, now we need to let the plugin know that this is in fact the translation of the offers category. To do that go to Posts > Categories and edit the new category.

Set the language the category is written in and from the translations section select the original category, save it and you are done.

As you can see now we have the post translated in two languages, with its category also translated. Notice that now in the languages column, instead of the plus button to add a new translation we have the edit one, which means that the item is translated and we can edit the translation at any time.

The procedure for translating pages and custom post types is the same as with normal posts.

Enabling translation for custom post types

By default custom post types will not appear as translatable, however you can easily enable this feature.

Navigate to Languages > Settings and from the Custom post types and Taxonomies section check the Accommodation and Accommodation Categories (or any other custom post types and taxonomies you want to translate). Save Changes and you are good to go. Your final settings should look like the ones below.

Creating a menu

After you are done translating your content you will need to add a menu for the rest of the languages present on your site. Creating a menu for the translated section of your site is pretty straight forward. Navigate to Customize > Menus and click the create new menu button.

Start by giving your menu a proper name. Then notice that under menu locations there is a language attached to each of the registered menu locations. Select the correct location and the correct language for your menu and proceed to the next step to add menu items to your new menu. Of course you will need to add only items that correspond to the translation you are working with, don’t mix items of different languages in the same menu. Read this guide to get a primer with WordPress menus.

From the drop down select in which language this particular widget will appear in and save it. Now create a new widget of the same type, add he same content but translated and select the proper language for it in the drop down. That’s it, now each widget will only appear on its set language.

Translate dynamic strings

Some strings, like for the site’s title and tagline or the title and content of text widgets, can be translated under Languages > Translations.

Each string has an input for each language, you can translate the string there and save the translation.

Translate static strings

Take a look at this knowledge base article for info on how to translate static strings.

ATTENTION: This documentation is about the new version of Neto, if you are using the legacy version please visit its documentation page here

Just make sure to install both in order to get the whole functionality.

Here you can find an overview of how to download and install the plugin.

Now all you have to do is replace the content of these pages with yours. Importing the sample content can help serve as a basis on which you can continue to build and expand your site, however keep in mind that this procedure is entirely optional.

Check out a generic overview of the sample content import procedure.

  • Main post thumbnail: 960x640px
  • Item: 615x410px
  • Large Item: 1290x860px
  • Article Media: 510x510px
  • Mini-cart items: 160x160px
NOTE: If for any reason you want to change the dimensions of any of the predefined image sizes you have to use a plugin. Here is a guide describing the process.
NOTE: All image sizes are the minimum recommended, adding larger image sizes will result in cropping them to fit these sizes. In order to alter WooCommerce sizes check this guide.

Read this knowledge base article for more information regarding the site options.

The header on the theme consists of four key elements:

1. Top Bar
2. Logo
3. Main Menu
4. Header content

Top Bar

To edit the top bar go to Customize > Top Bar. Here you can toggle the top bar entirely and fill the 3 content areas with simple text, plain HTML, or shortcodes. Refer to the shortcodes section below for information regarding the shortcodes.

The left content area on the theme’s demo contains some text, the middle one is blank and the right one hosts the language switcher shortcode (this requires WPML or Polylang in order to work):

[ignition-language-switcher]

Top bar colors can also be modified through this tab.

Logo

The recommended maximum width of your logo is 260px (or double that if you want a retina ready logo) while you can use any height you want. To upload your logo go to Customize > Site Identity. You can upload two logos. The normal and the alternative one. The alternative logo can be used if you want a different logo to appear when the header layout is set to Transparent under Customize > Header > Layout. In the theme’s demo we use just the default logo.

Header content

You can add some content to the theme’s header next to the logo by utilizing the content area available under Customize > Header > Content. In the theme’s demo this content area hosts a link to the WooCommerce’s my account page and two shortcodes to display the mini-cart and a search box.

<a href="/my-account/"&gtMy Account&lt/a> [ignition-minicart-button][ignition-site-search post_type="product"]

The page title section

The page title section can be modified under Customize > Page title. You can choose to disable the page title section entirely, change its height, alignment, content and toggle the site’s breadcrumbs. Under the Colors section you can set a background color, a background image, an overlay color and also set the primary and the secondary text colors.

The page title with background option is disabled on the theme’s demo. If you choose to use it on your site you might want to have different background images on different posts, pages and custom post types.

To achieve that set the section up globally and then create or edit a page.

In our Knowledge Base you can find more info about the page title sectionthe breadcrumbs and the page template overrides.

The footer area is a widgetized area that can be populated with widgets through Customize > Widgets. You can also remove the credits at the very bottom of this area by visiting Customize > Footer > Credits content.

For more detailed information regarding the customization options available on Ignition Framework based themes you can check out this knowledge base article.

Custom post types

Neto does not utilize any of the Ignition Framework’s custom post types, except from the special global sections. The only custom post type used extensively on Neto is the product custom post type provided by WooCommerce.

Creating a new Product

Go to Products > Add Product then enter a product Title and Description.

Go to the Product Data panel and select a Simple product with a price and a sale price as shown below:

Set your Product featured image and image galleries.

Save the Product and you can start selling!

Learn all about creating and managing products here.

Product Categories

Product categories and tags work in much the same way as normal categories and tags you have when writing posts in WordPress. They can be created, edited, and selected at any time. This can be done when you first create a product or come back and edit it or the category/tag specifically. You can also control your thumbnail icon for that category as well as the hero page title background image.

Setting a Product category as a menu item is easy. Navigate to Appearance > Menus and enable Product Categories as menu items from Screen Options.

Setting up the pages

NOTE: All blocks used in the construction of the pages below are provided by the GutenBee plugin unless mentioned otherwise.

Home – Grid

Create a new page under Pages > Add new and apply to it the full width boxed template under Summary, then set the normal page title, subtitle and breadcrumbs to hide under Page Settings > Page Title. Now you can proceed to the content.

The page’s content starts out with a Container block with two columns and 90px bottom margin set under Block Appearance. In the left column we have a 600px tall Banner block with bottom vertical content alignment, a background image, an overlay color and 30px padding. Inside the banner we have a Heading, a Paragraph and a Button block. In the right column we have two 285px tall container blocks with the same configuration as the previous one, the first block also has 30px bottom margin. The contents of both Banners is the same as with the left one.

Next up we have a Heading block followed by a WooCommerce Hand-picked Products block displaying four products in a four column layout. Following is a 60px tall Spacer block. After that comes a 654px tall Container block with bottom vertical content alignment and a background image set. Inside we have a single column containing a Countdown block with 100px left/right padding and -27px bottom margin. Closing out the section we have a Heading, a Paragraph, a Button and another 60px Spacer.

The final section of the homepage consists of a Heading, a WooCommerce Newest Products block displaying four products in a four column layout and a 10px spacer.

Home – Video

This page has just one difference compared to the previous one. It starts out with a 580px tall Container block with middle vertical content alignment, an overlay color, a background image and a background video set under Block Appearance. Inside the container we find a Heading and a Button block.

Home – Slider

Again here only the first section is different to the previous two pages. Here the first container houses a single column with a Core Shortcode block which carries the shortcode for a MaxSlider provided slideshow.

Shop

The shop page is automatically created upon WooCommerce’s activation. On the theme’s demo we have set the page’s layout to Full width boxed and opted for our products to display an alternate image when hovered under Customize > WooCommerce > Product Catalog. Read here for more info on WooCommerce related options available on the theme.

ATTENTION: This documentation is about the new version of Tinos, if you are using the legacy version please visit its documentation page here

Just make sure to install both in order to get the whole functionality.

Here you can find an overview of how to download and install the plugin.

Now all you have to do is replace the content of these pages with yours. Importing the sample content can help serve as a basis on which you can continue to build and expand your site, however keep in mind that this procedure is entirely optional.

Check out a generic overview of the sample content import procedure.

The procedure:

  • In your WordPress dashboard visit Appearance > Theme Options > Sample Content.
  • Click Install and then Activate for each of the required plugins.
  • Click the Get Started button and in the next screen the Import Demo Data button.

  • Main post thumbnail: 1090x725px
  • Item: 615x410px
  • Large Item: 1520x1015px
  • Article Media: 675x453px
  • Mini-cart items: 160x160px
NOTE: If for any reason you want to change the dimensions of any of the predefined image sizes you have to use a plugin. Here is a guide describing the process.
NOTE: All image sizes are the minimum recommended, adding larger image sizes will result in cropping them to fit these sizes. In order to alter WooCommerce sizes check this guide.

Setting up site-wide sections

It’s considered a good practice to set up the areas of your website that you won’t be editing a lot in the future, like the general site layout, the header, footer and some secondary functionality.

General Site Options

You can change your general site options under Appearance > Customize > Site Options. Under the Layout section you can control your site’s and blog’s layout, as well as the site width and content/sidebar column ratio.

Read this knowledge base article for more information regarding the site options.

The header on the theme consists of three key elements:

1. Top Bar
2. Logo
3. Main Menu

Top Bar

To edit the top bar go to Customize > Top Bar. Here you can toggle the top bar entirely, fill any of the 3 content areas with simple text, plain HTML, or shortcodes and modify the top bar’s colors. Refer to the shortcodes section below for information regarding the shortcodes. The top bar is turned off on the theme’s demo.

Logo

The recommended maximum width of your logo is 200px (or double that if you want a retina ready logo) while you can use any height you want. To upload your logo go to Customize > Site Identity. You can upload two logos. The normal and the alternative one. The alternative logo can be used if you want a different logo to appear when the header layout is set to Transparent under Customize > Header > Layout. In the theme’s demo we don’t use a logo image.

For more detailed information regarding the customization options available on Ignition Framework based themes you can check out this knowledge base article.

Setting up the pages

Read this knowledge base article for more information regarding the site options.

On the theme’s demo the header layout type is set to be full width by default under Customize > Header > Layout.

The header can be split into four key elements:

1. Top Bar
2. Logo
3. Main menu
4. Header content

Top Bar

To edit the top bar go to Customize > Top Bar. Here you can toggle the top bar entirely and fill the 3 content areas with plain text, HTML, or shortcodes. Refer to the shortcodes section below for information regarding the shortcodes. Here you can also customize the color scheme of the top bar, especially useful if you are using the normal header layout.

In the theme’s demo the top bar is disabled entirely from the Show top bar checkbox under Customize > Top Bar.

Logo

Due to the full width header the logo can be up to 380px wide (or double that for retina ready logos). To upload your logo go to Customize > Site Identity. You can upload two logos. The main and the alternative one. The alternative logo can be used if you want a different logo to appear when the header layout is set to Transparent under Customize > Header > Layout. In the theme’s demo we use both logos, the main logo appears on the sticky header which has a white background, and the alternative one on all the pages with the transparent header.

The demo’s menu is set to be sticky under Customize > Header > Layout.

Create a menu button

You can create a special button-like menu item by setting a certain class for to it. The class name is nav-button and you can set it under Appearance > Menus for the item you want. First enable this section from Screen Options.

Header content

Under Customize > Header > Content you can add content to your site’s header in the form of plain text, basic HTML or one of the theme’s shortcodes. In the themes demo we use three shortcodes to display a link to the WooCommerce account page, the mini-cart button and a social menu.

[ignition-icon-link icon="user" link="https://www.cssigniter.com/demos/mozzy/my-account/"][ignition-minicart-button][ignition-custom-menu name="Social Menu"]

In some cases, you might want to have different background images on different posts, pages and custom post types.

To achieve that create or edit a page. On the right sidebar locate the Page title image field. Upload a new image and preview this page. This will override the image set in the Customizer settings.

On the theme’s demo we have the Show Page Title with Background option disabled by default and enable it only on a per page basis.

NOTE: The purpose of the Transparent header option is to have your main header components (Top bar, Logo & Main Menu) on top of a background image or background color which means that you have to set on in the Customize > Page title > Color section.

The footer area is a widgetized area that can be populated with widgets through Customize > Widgets. You can also remove the credits at the very bottom of this area by visiting Customize > Footer > Credits content.

Some themes might have a dark color scheme which is reflected in the block editor, this can make working with certain blocks a bit harder. Enabling the editor dark mode using the provided checkbox will apply certain styles to the editor in order to improve the content creation experience.

Custom Post Types

Create a Podcast

Create a Podcast under Podcasts > Add New. Under the Podcast tab on the right hand sidebar you can control some of the post’s basic attributes. These are:

  • Summary: Control the location and appearance of the sidebar.
  • Categories: Set a category for the item which will also serve as a filter on the post type’s listing pages.
  • Featured image: Will appear on all related listings and on the item’s single page.
  • Excerpt: Add a manual excerpt that will appear on post listings and on the page title section as a subtitle (if applicable).
  • Page Title image: Set a custom post title background image for the item. Leave blank if you want to keep the default settings configured earlier.
  • Page Settings: Here you can fine tune the item’s appearance. E.g. toggle the featured image, change header type, hide the page title/subtitle, breadcrumbs etc.

Adding content to the item is no different than any other WordPress post or page, you can use your favorite blocks or a page builder to do it. On the theme’s demo we use the AudioIgniter music player plugin to embed the podcasts in the content.

Setting up the pages

NOTE: All blocks used in the construction of the pages below are provided by the GutenBee plugin unless mentioned otherwise.

Homepage

Create a new pages under Pages > Add new and set to it the Full width boxed template under Page Attributes. Under Page settings check to remove the top/bottom padding, set the header type to transparent and set the page title with background, normal page title and subtitle to hide. Now you can proceed to the content.

The homepage’s hero section consists of a fully aligned Container block with the theme grid option enabled, its height set to -1 in order for it to cover the entire viewport and the vertical content alignment set to bottom. Under block appearance we have an overlay color, a background image and 100px bottom padding and margin. Inside the container there is a single column housing a Heading, and a Paragraph block.

The next part of the homepage starts with another Container with a single column. Inside we find a Heading, a Post Types block displaying a single Podcast in an one column layout. Following is a 100px tall Core Spacer, a Heading, another Post Types block displaying 6 podcasts in a three column layout with the offset set to 1 so as not to display the post displayed on the block above it. Finally the section closes with another 100px tall Core Spacer.

Next up we have another fully aligned Container with the theme grid enabled, vertical content alignment set to middle, a background color, 100px top/bottom padding and 0px bottom margin. Inside we have two columns, the left one contains some content in the form of a Heading, a few Paragraphs and an Image block. The right column contains a single Image block, the block has a normal box shadow with its top and left properties set to 20px.

Closing the front page we have yet another Container with a single column. Inside the column we have a 100px tall Core Spacer, a Heading, a WooCommerce Newest Products block displaying 3 products in a 3 column layout, and finally we have another 100px Core Spacer block.

Episodes

Create a new page with the Full width boxed template applied to it, a Page Title Background Image, under Page settings > Header the Header Type is set to Transparent and under Page Settings > Page Title, the Show Page Title with Background is set to show.

The page’s content lives in a single columned Container. Inside we find three groups of Heading/Post Types/Core Spacer. The first Post Types block displays a single Podcast in a single column layout. The second Post Types block displays 6 Podcasts from the 2021 base category with a 3 column layout with its offset set to 1. The final Post Types block displays 6 Podcasts from the 2020 base category in a three column layout. All Core Spacers are 100px tall.

Subscribe

Create a new page with the Full width boxed template applied to it, a Page Title Image, and under Page settings the Header Type is set to Transparent and the Show Page Title with Background to show.

The page’s content consists of two Container blocks with four columns each. Each column has 30px padding and a background color set, inside we find an Image block with each service’s logo and a Paragraph with their name.

Contact

Create a new page with the Full width boxed template applied to it, a Page Title Image, and under Page settings the Header Type is set to Transparent and the Show Page Title with Background to show.

For the Contact page’s content we have a single Contact Form 7 block providing the contact form.

Mozzy’s Global Section

Mozzy features one Global section (on your site you can add as many as you wish) that appears before the footer sitewide and displays an Instagram feed carousel. Create a new global section under Global Sections > Add New and proceed to the content.

This section offers information on features common on all Ignition Framework based themes.

For the section’s content we have a single Core Shortcode block with the framework’s Instagram feed shortcode.

[ignition-instagram-feed autoplay=1 speed=1500]

Under the Global Section Settings metabox, in the Conditions tab you can set where the section will appear.

  • Large Item: 1170x780px
  • Article Media: 510x510px
  • Mini-cart items: 160x160px
NOTE: If for any reason you want to change the dimensions of any of the predefined image sizes you have to use a plugin. This guide describes this process.

Read this knowledge base article for more information regarding the site options.

The header can be split into three key elements:

1. Top Bar
2. Logo
3. Main menu

On the theme’s demo the header layout type is set to Transparent by default under Customize > Header > Layout.

This means that the header will overlap your Page Title Section or parts of your content rather than appearing as a standalone section. The colors of the transparent header can be modified under Customize > Header > Transparent Colors.

The theme’s demo features an ignition-custom-menu shortcode in the left content area and in the right one an ignition-current-weather and an ignition-language-switcher for the language switcher. You will need to have Polylang or WPML installed for the latter shortcode to work.

Logo

The recommended width of your logo is 130px (or 260px if you want a retina ready logo) while you can use any height you want.

This article offers more information regarding the header and its options.

The demo’s menu is set to be sticky under Customize > Header > Layout.

Create a menu button

You can create a special button-like menu item by setting a certain class for to it. The class name is nav-button and you can set it under Appearance > Menus for the item you want. First enable this section from Screen Options.

In some cases, you might want to have different background images on different posts, pages and custom post types.

To achieve that create or edit a page. On the right sidebar locate the Page title image field. Upload a new image and preview this page. This will override the image set in the Customizer settings.

You can also adjust the colors by setting a background color & image and modify the border, title and text colors.

In the content section you can replace the existing copyright information with yours or use any of the shortcodes included in the Ignition Framework.

Utilities

Some themes might have a dark color scheme which is reflected in the block editor, this can make working with certain blocks a bit harder. Enabling the editor dark mode using the provided checkbox will apply certain styles to the editor in order to improve the content creation experience.

Setting up the pages

NOTE: All blocks used in the construction of the pages below are provided by the GutenBee plugin unless mentioned otherwise.
