Almost 1 year and a half ago we – Anastis and I – entered the world of premium WordPress themes. Back then little we knew about what it really takes to run such a thing. We were excited and confident about our WordPress skills. We thought, why not? Things weren’t so simple though.
Ithaca, our gaming reviews theme for WordPress, has been brought to version 1.1 as it fixes an issue where the menu would be hidden by the featured reviews slider. Only the HTML5 version was affected, but the fix was also applied to the xHTML version for consistency.
All Ithaca users affected by the bug, are advised to update their theme to this latest version.
It took us a while to get things straight but now it seems that we have a solid plan in our hands. So here’s what to expect from cssigniter during the following couple of months.
Custom Posts Types Relationships is a WordPress plugin that allows you to define relationships between posts in a manual way. This second version of the plugin now supports posts, pages and custom posts types, as well as allow you to define cross-type relationships. Sure, plugins that automatically get the job done are nice, but cat take you that far as they might link to irrelevant posts or change the output as more posts are added.
This version, renamed, is work based on Gerasimos’ original plugin, Custom Post Relationships, but extended to support custom post types, pages, a shortcode, a theme function, and an admin panel.
As we said before, our target is to release 2 themes every month. We already have enough (rough) designs to discuss so i guess this is not the tough part. Today Sophocles got in out catalog and one more theme will be released by the end of October. That theme is Ithaca. A gaming news and reviews theme for WordPress. While Ithaca is still in the design phase, i thought i should let you know about it and also provide a homepage preview.
Sophocles is the 5th theme that will make it in our catalog. The theme is already in the testing phase and we plan to release it early next week. As with our previous themes, Sophocles will be available in xhtml and html5 versions both for WordPress and plain html including a newsletter template (html and Campaign Monitor versions). Some of the features of Sophocles include a custom homepage, full width and archive templates, our custom options panel, 3 awesome color schemes and a new tab that gives you the ability to control the background colors and images of your template.
When the idea of selling premium WordPress themes knocked our door we couldn’t find a way to stand out of the crowd. The competition is crazy out there. Just have a look. Literally hundreds are now selling themes with amazing features. So with just building a few themes and promoting them we thought it would make us look like just another shop around. To be honest it didn’t make any sense like that. Where’s the “different” in all that? It took us 5 – 6 months to differentiate ourselves from the competition. Do you want to know in what areas? Keep reading.
