Ready for WordPress 7.1: what’s new in our themes and plugins
Every CSSIgniter theme and plugin we sell is now updated and tested for WordPress 7.1. That’s the Ignition plugin, all 40 Ignition themes, Olsen, GutenBee, AudioIgniter, VideoIgniter, MaxSlider, EventIgniter and the CSSIgniter Connector.
WordPress 7.1 always loads the block editor inside an iframe. That’s a good change for WordPress, but it quietly broke things that used to just work: fonts that didn’t load in the editor, block previews that stayed blank, YouTube videos refusing to play. We went through every product, fixed what the iframe broke, and cleaned up a good number of older bugs along the way.
Here’s what you get.
Ignition 3.6.0 and the Ignition themes
The editor now looks like your site. The biggest change in Ignition 3.6.0 is that the block editor finally matches the page you’re building.
- The editor shows your real page width. The editing area now takes the width of the page template you picked, using the site and content widths from the Customizer. Switch from Full width to Full width narrow and the editor follows right away. Wide and full aligned blocks follow too.
- Your fonts show up in the editor. The Google Fonts you chose in the Customizer now load inside the editor, instead of falling back to the defaults.
- Product Tabs works again in WordPress 7.1. Pressing Enter in a tab’s title no longer creates a copy of the previous tab, and the layout is fixed.
- Pages stop being marked as changed when you just open them. The Taxonomy Terms, Product Tabs, Product Category List and Featured Product Category blocks used to get a new id on every load.
- Product sliders show the right number of products. Hidden products no longer eat into the “Number of products” setting, and small sliders keep their grid.
- Front-end sliders and tabs load reliably. Block scripts no longer run before jQuery is ready.
- WooCommerce templates are current. The mini cart, order received page and order details now match WooCommerce 11.2.
All 40 Ignition themes on sale got a new version too. Each one ships an updated onboarding wizard: if a recommended plugin fails to install, you now see the reason instead of a page that silently reloads. Hugo also gets its product meta template updated for WooCommerce 11.2.
Ignition themes: Aegean, Amaryllis, Andros, Beat, Benson, Berliner, Blockchain, Business3ree, Carbone, Coastline, Convert, Corner, Cousteau Pro, Decorist, Eclecticon, Hugo, Kea, Korina, Lefkada, Lense, Listee, Loge, Medi, Milos, Moliere, Mozzy, Neto, Nozama, Oikia, Potenza, Public Opinion, Roxima, Salon, Specialty, Spencer, Struct, Technico, Tinos, Vigour and Zermatt.
GutenBee 2.20.4 and MaxSlider 1.2.5
GutenBee’s Container block now looks right in the WordPress 7.1 editor, and it pairs with Ignition’s new width preview.
- Containers size correctly in the editor. The theme grid, wide and full alignments now match the front end, and themes can size them.
- No more sideways scrollbar in the editing area or in the block settings panel.
- YouTube plays in the editor again. Video backgrounds in the Container and Banner blocks and the Video Embed block no longer show YouTube’s “Error 153”. Your front end was never affected.
- The “custom editor width” and “high contrast” options work inside the new editor.
- Opening a page no longer marks it as changed. This affected most blocks, and the Post Types block in particular.
- The editor is translatable. Every editor label now goes through translations.
MaxSlider 1.2.5 gets the same “page marked as changed” fix, and its block no longer logs a deprecation warning in the editor.
AudioIgniter, VideoIgniter and EventIgniter
Our media and events plugins got a full checkup against WordPress 7.1, plus a security pass we recommend you install.
AudioIgniter 2.1.0 and AudioIgniter Pro 2.1.0
- The player block works in the new editor. Selecting the block no longer breaks the “Player Appearance” panel, and the preview plays inside the editor.
- Analytics stop losing plays. Plays from pages with long URLs, like links with tracking parameters, are now recorded.
- The daily analytics cleanup runs again. It used to fail silently on a schedule.
- Faster front end. Pro no longer runs extra database queries on every page view.
- Dismissed notices stay dismissed.
- Batch uploads keep lyrics-only tracks and no longer leave an empty track behind.
- Security hardening across the analytics tools and the block’s style settings.
VideoIgniter 1.2.0 and VideoIgniter Pro 1.2.0
- The block preview plays in the editor instead of showing a bare black box.
- The widget plays single-video playlists again.
- Saving a playlist with a blank row no longer adds an empty video.
- Security fixes for subtitle uploads and the Elementor widget’s playlist setting.
EventIgniter 1.1.0
- Monthly events on several weekdays get the right dates. “First Monday and Friday” used to produce two Fridays.
- “Add to calendar” works reliably, including for events whose venue has no location.
- Quick Edit keeps your event category colors.
- Draft and scheduled events stay private. Their calendar files are no longer downloadable.
- The date picker ticks the right weekday for sites in timezones behind UTC.
Olsen 2.9.0 and Olsen Light 1.8.0
Olsen gets a few new shop options and an editor that finally uses your typography.
- New: cart icon in the header. Show a cart icon with the number of items. It’s off by default.
- New: breadcrumbs on shop and product pages. Also off by default.
- The editor uses your fonts. The block editor now shows the fonts and typography you set in the Customizer, instead of WordPress’ default serif.
- Sharper WooCommerce icons. Star ratings, notices, arrows, spinners and stock labels are now crisp SVGs.
- Cart and Checkout buttons match your theme. They follow Olsen’s button style and your Customizer colors.
- PHP 8 warnings fixed in the About Me and Latest Posts widgets.
Olsen Light 1.8.0 is tested with WordPress 7.1 and has the new minimum requirements.
CSSIgniter Connector 1.4.0
The Connector, the plugin that delivers updates for our premium products, is now quieter and more reliable.
- No more “update to the version you already have”. You won’t see messages like “You have version 3.6.0 installed. Update to 3.6.0.” anymore.
- Auto-updates stay on when our site is unreachable. A brief outage on cssigniter.com no longer switches off auto-updates for up to an hour.
- Translations download once. Installed translations are no longer downloaded again on every update, and they stop lingering in Dashboard > Updates.
- Leftover update notices clear after you update a theme or plugin by hand.
New requirements and how to update
All of these products now need WordPress 6.3 or newer and PHP 7.4 or newer. They’re tested up to WordPress 7.1. PHP 7.4 is what WordPress 7 itself requires, so most sites already meet it.
To update, go to Dashboard > Updates. Premium products update through the CSSIgniter Connector, so update the Connector first. Free plugins and Olsen Light update from WordPress.org as usual.
As always, take a backup before updating, and let us know through support if anything looks off.
