A tumblr-like theme from Owltastic is coming soon!

I’m a web designer and there are people i admire in this job. I follow them on Twitter, i read their books, i follow their advice, i stare at their previews on Dribbble. I guess everyone in this job is doing something similar.

One of them is Meagan Fisher a.k.a owltastic and when the idea of approaching my favorite designers to design for CSSIgniter came to mind, Meagan was in my Top5. I wasn’t sure if i was going to get a response but i did and she will be designing a tumblr-like theme for WordPress. Can’t wait to see the result, can’t wait to share it with you!

Once we have the final concept in our hands we will share a preview so stay tuned!

We are hiring: Part-time video tutorial author

In an effort to expand our support section we are looking for someone who will be able to record video tutorials on how to properly install our WordPress themes. We do provide written documentation but let’s be realistic. Who reads those? Video tutorials on the other hand seem more attractive to users. So if you are interested:

The mission

You will be creating video tutorials for our current and future WordPress themes. You will also be creating video tutorials describing generic WordPress processes (How to create a page, how to install a plugin etc). You will also be responsible for reformatting our written documenation to better match the video tutorials.

Requirements

  • You must be familiar with the self hosted version of WordPress. You have an understanding of the WordPress ecosystem (template hierarchy, custom templates, custom post types, taxonomies and the various WordPress APIs).
  • You must be a fluent English speaker. That’s not enough though. You must enunciate and use a vocabulary of a six years old. We now have members from more than 60 countries and speaking clearly without using any slang is a must.
  • You must be familiar with video/audio recording software (doh!).
  • We hate excuses so if you miss a deadline just tell us exactly what you drunk the night before. We may provide good tips on how to get over this nasty hangover.

Benefits

  • Access to our themes collection.
  • Work from home.
  • Work whenever you want as long as you don’t miss the deadlines.

Second Anniversary Giveaway. Your chance to win an iPad!

2 years ago, Anastis and I were running like crazy to launch our service. Building WordPress themes, building our website, testing our membership system etc. On September 23rd we launched our website. Everything went fine except one thing. Sales. Sales were slow. We didn’t mind because our initial plan was to keep our daily jobs and mess with the whole cssigniter thing on our spare time. We were totally wrong of course and we learnt that the hard way.

A few months ago we re-launched. And this time i think we got it right. See, today we just hit our first major milestone, our first 1000 happy members (they are way more than that right now) but all these things shouldn’t keep us from celebrating our first day online as a premium WordPress themes provider.

Now it’s time for giveaways!

Follow the instructions for a chance to win:

  • The new iPad (16GB – WiFi Only version)
  • 1 cssigniter.com membership for life
  • 3 cssigniter.com annual memberships
  • 5 yearly Alpha Enterprise Hosting plans from Fusioned

How to participate (2 different ways):

  1. Follow @cssigniter on Twitter and tweet the following message: iPad Giveaway: get @cssigniter WordPress themes for just $39. Details: http://bit.ly/RpxpMv” then post the tweet url in a comment here, in this post.
  2. Or grab a subscription! Hint: You can get our annual subscription for $17 from mightydeals.com!  Then, follow @cssigniter and tweet the following message “iPad Giveaway: just got @cssigniter WordPress themes for just $39. Details: http://bit.ly/RpxpMv“.

Some simple rules

  • While we will cover any shipping costs for the iPad, the winner is responsible for any taxes associated with the prize.
  • The contest ends on September 23rd. Winners will be announced in this blog on September 27th.

Game on!

Bluehost Hosting

When it comes to the world of hosting, there are literally hundreds of options set before you. After browsing through company after company, you may start to think that HOST A doesn’t sound that different from HOST B, so you end up picking the one with the lowest price and hope for the best.

Sound familiar?

We like to keep things simple around here at CSSIgniter, and we also like to follow Automattic’s lead – the company who created the very WordPress software we all know and love by sharing with you the company they recommend.

Theme Updates: Troy and Odyssey reach v1.2

Summer is well in and the sun shines (more like burns skin) here in sunny Greece. While everyone is planning on their vacations, CSSIgniter is hard at work to bring you more. No, wait… we actually try to bring you less. Less hassle, less options (but enough to keep you satisfied and do whatever you want to do) and less sweating.

That’s why we’ve released updates for Troy and Oddysey. Two out of our first four original themes got revisited and are now working as any modern (think WordPress v3.4) theme should work. If you are updating, don’t expect anything spectacular. Most changes are made under the hood. You might notice though that Featured Images are available, as well a revamped and more solid panel is at your hands. If you are watching Troy or Odyssey for the first time, just know that what you see and what you expect, is really really what you get.

A changelog for versions 1.1 (shortlived) and 1.2 for each theme is available in our support forum, so any of you existing users is upgrading and have made any customizations in the theme files, make sure to take a look at the changelog. Of course you need to backup your customization, but you already have done that, haven’t you?

Don’t go away just yet… I mean, plan your summer holidays as you’d normally do, but keep in the back of your head that more theme updates are coming.

Penelope is next.
