Meet the new Aegean Resort
During the summer we have been hard at work designing and building our new Ignition Framework. We are excited to announce that it’s now ready and today we are releasing the first couple of themes based on it. In this article we’ll take a look at the first one, which is a re-imagining of our very popular Aegean Resort hotel theme.
Both the theme and the underlying Ignition Framework have been designed and written from scratch with focus on ease of use, great performance, modularity, security and clean code. Let’s find out a bit more about Aegean Resort and the Ignition Framework.
The Ignition Framework
The new framework comes as a separate plugin and will be the same for all our upcoming themes. All necessary templates and functionality are built into the plugin allowing the theme to manage layout and appearance by providing the necessary styles. This significantly reduces clutter in the theme making it extremely easy to work with and customize visually. It also makes themes much more maintainable from a development stand point. Themes sharing the Ignition Framework in the form of a single plugin means that if any updates are required whether they have to do with new feature additions, security or compatibility fixes will be done in a single point and will rapidly be released for all themes.

Let’s take a closer look at some of the most important features of the theme.
Customization
We wanted to make the theme’s customization experience feel as familiar as possible, this is why we opted to integrate the majority of the theme’s customization options in the WordPress Customizer, providing the user with a well known interface to work with. In the Customizer the user will find not only global color and typography controls, but also top bar, header, and footer specific ones. Furthermore in the Customizer one can set the default appearance of the page title section, customize the appearance of the blog and single posts by selecting the post listing’s column number and toggling various post sections.
Flexible header
The theme features an optional top bar and a header section. Both come with predefined areas which can display custom content like plain text, basic HTML or even one of our purpose built shortcodes to display a language switcher, a mini cart and more, additionally all of their colors can be customized. The header can be either boxed or fullwidth, and can also be displayed as transparent. Multiple menu layouts are available along with a sticky menu option.
Per page settings
Each page can override some general layout settings to make it stand out from the rest. Customization options include changing the page title background image, switching between a normal or transparent header and individually toggling the page title and subtitle.
Accommodation management
The accommodation custom post type built in Aegean Resort will allow users to easily list their rooms, suites, villas or any other type of property. Accommodation pages can be created by using both core and custom blocks to achieve the perfect presentation. Listing pages for the custom post type can be easily created by using the Post Types block provided by the GutenBee plugin or any other post listing custom block. Integration with the most popular WordPress booking plugins and online booking service is especially uncomplicated due to the fact that the theme only manages the presentation aspect of the accommodation and leaves everything else to be managed by specialized tools.
WooCommerce compatibility
All themes based on the Ignition Framework are compatible with the latest version of WooCommerce, the most popular e-Commerce plugin for WordPress. Setup a shop and sell your products or services in no time by combining the power of WooCommerce with the beauty, elegance and ease of use of our Ignition Framework based themes.
Performance
A modern website can’t just be beautiful, it needs to be fast. This is why we built performance in the core of our new framework. The themes by default serve their assets in a minified and packaged format. Additionally any custom styles the theme carries for various integrations with popular plugins are only loaded if said plugins are installed and active to avoid loading unnecessary files and keep loading times low.
Perfect for mobile devices
We test all of our themes on multiple real devices to make sure they will look great and work perfectly on the majority of mobile devices out there.
Block editor ready
In Aegean Resort we strive to use the block editor as much as possible to create all of the gorgeous layouts you can see in the theme’s demo. Replicate the demo’s front page, accommodation listing and more using a combination of core blocks and custom ones provided by our own GutenBee plugin. Of course the theme will work with popular page builders like Elementor.
Easy to get started
We want users to be able to get up and running as fast as possible and to help with that we have built in one-click demo importing functionality. Additionally the themes will soon get starter kits which will allow the user to modify the layout and appearance of the theme with just a couple of clicks to better accommodate their needs.
