Our favorite Instagram WordPress plugins
With the advent of smartphones people tend to take a lot of pictures and, naturally, they want to share them with their friends, family and the world. Instagram is a great tool at our disposal when it comes to sharing photographs. It’s very popular, easy to use and with its filters makes sharing photos fun. However it’s not enough to have people view our photos within the Instagram app, we need to display them on our site as well. Here’s where plugins come into play, below we take a look at the most popular Instagram plugins in the WordPress plugin directory.
WP Instagram Widget
This is our go to solution when we need to integrate an Instagram feed using widgets in one of our themes. We have also used it to help us create the beautiful Instagram carousel found in many of our themes, for example in Olsen’s footer.
The great thing about this plugin is its simplicity. No plugin options available, drag the widget in the sidebar of your choice, fill in the boxes according to your needs and save, that’s it, you know have a feed widget up and running.
Instagram Feed by smashballoon
Perhaps the most popular Instagram related plugin in the plugin directory at the moment. This plugin allows you to display your feed (or the feed of any other user using their user id). Built in shortcodes allow you to display the feed in posts, pages or widgets.
Along with the versatility of shortcodes come a variety of options to help you get the layout you want. Custom backgrounds, modifiable column and photo numbers on the feed, customizable feed dimensions, text colors and more. Instagram Feed is certainly worth a look.

Need to display your Instagram feed as a slider? There is a plugin for you. Use the Instagram Slider Widget to create sliders that can display a feed or the latest images of certain tags. Get the shortcode and paste it anywhere you like to display the slider.

A very powerful plugin that allows you to create and display unlimited Instagram feeds either based on accounts or hashtags. You can display the feeds in gallery or slider format. The number of images & columns are customizable on a per feed basis. You can use custom styles and conditional filters to fine-tune your feeds. Make sure you check this plugin out!
Intagrate Lite – Instagram Image Publishing
Our last plugin is a bit different from the rest. This plugin allows you to auto-post your Instagram images to your WordPress powered site. Install, activate and authorize the plugin. Go through the simple configuration and save. Now any time you upload a photo on Instagram the plugin will create a new post (or custom post type if you set it to) with that image embedded. This way your WordPress feed followers or casual readers will be up to date on your photographic excursions.
